Rachael Taylor is an actress and model, who made a career for herself in Australia before moving to Hollywood. She is known for the variety of her roles, including performances in the Australian television program headLand. Taylor also appeared in a few top movies including Shutter, Transformers and Splinterheads, just to name a few.

Rachael Taylor began her career in 2004, working as a model. She modeled for Skye Jilly Internationally initially. Early on she entered the State Finals of the Miss Teen Tasmania, where she competed and gained international attention. In 2004, she appeared as Maryann Marinkovich in the television show, The Mystery of Natalie Wood. She then spent some time appearing in smaller, made for television movies, including Dynasty: The Making of Guilty Pleasure, which depicted the making of the popular American drama Dynasty.

In 2005, she appeared as Natalie Louise Brown in the first episode entitled "Old Flames" for the television program McLeod's Daughters. She also was a woman sphinx in the television program Hercules that year. That year, Taylor also became better known as she appeared in the television series called headLand. There, she played Sasha Forbes, for a limited engagement. This was an Australian drama series. She remained in this role for several shows through 2006 and was nominated for a Logie Award as the Most Popular New Female Talent for this role.

Although many of her early appearances were on television, Rachael Taylor did not just remain on the small screen. Her first full movie role was in 2005 when she starred as Teri Elizabeth Richards in the movie Man-Thing, a horror movie. The next year, she was in See No Evil, landing the role as Zoe.

One of her biggest roles would come in the next movie she starred in, in 2007 - Transformers. She played Maggie Madsen. This movie was a big success, which helped to propel her into bigger and better things in the years to come. She starred alongside big names like Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox in this drama/thriller.

Rachael Taylor had a big year in 2008. She starred as Sam Fulton in the big screen picture Bottle Shock. Rachael Taylor also played Jane Shaw in the big thriller Shutter. Other movies for Taylor this year include The Legend of Bloody Mary and Deception (where she was List Member #5.)

Yet another big year for the star was 2009 where she played Jess in the movie Ghost Machine and Amie in the movie Cedar Boys. She was also in Splinterheads, which again brought Taylor positive acclaim and recognition. She also appeared in the HBO comedy series Washingtonienne in 2009. She was in the Australian production of Melt as well. Each role continues to bring her more recognition.

Rachael Taylor also appeared in Summer Coda, Providence Park, and Red Dog over the next 18 months. The Darkest Hour was directed by Chris Gorak, a Moscow based filmmaker who sought out the actress for the role. This movie was a Russian science fiction thriller. In 2011, Taylor also began starting on Grey's Anatomy, where she plays an OBGYN named Dr. Lucy Fields.
